Dyeing to Felt
About Us!
As mums of young children
we were wondering how to fill the summer 2007 holidays and realised the
time was ripe to start a few home dyeing experiments. So armed with fleece from
a friend in Cheddar, and plants and dyestuffs from our gardens, we began
experimenting.
The results were
fascinating and encouraging although our family were often perplexed as to what we were cooking.
The day we dyed with red cabbage was particularly challenging for
everyone.
We got a bit carried away and have gone on to develop an exciting colour range using only natural dyes. We
use the minimum chemicals possible and are always sensitive to environmental
issues. We get as much colour from a
single dye bath as possible and although mordant has to be used, we do use as
little as possible.
Our plastic bags formerly stored computer components. Our foam used to be cushions (supplied to you washed in eco powder.) When we send out packages we use as much recycled packaging as possible.
Sam also teaches doll making, wet felting and knitting to adults and children.
Email us with any questions or comments - we'd love to hear from you.
